Hi all
Well my gp rang to sat she had received à letter from gi. Gi said that he was able to get into 10 inches of my small bowel which all looked clear. On inspection of my rectum theyre was à cluster of hemorrhoids. He will have the bloods and biospy results back in two weeks but "with my history" suspects ibs but acknowledges that theyre Is bleeding but these may be from the hemorrhoids or colitis.
My doctor spoke of possibly referring me to a dietican for a spécial ibs diet???
When i mentioned my sévère bleeding and clots today she didnt seem too bothered.
Previously colitis had been found can someone please educate me on this*
This Is à différent gp WHO i have been seein with my récent flare that regular doctor feels i may have both ibs and ibd and this Is the problem with my diagnoses.
At this stage im just desperate for someone to educate me on this i feel à bit lost with it all and getting nowhere for years
Please help x

I just read your original thread where you described all your symptoms.

1. IBS does not cause bloody stools. Now, your hemorrhoids could, so that doesn't guarantee IBD.

2. The "patchy colitis" may have been related to IBD but there are other causes as well. Did they do any biopsies back then?

3. Have you had your [wiki]fecal calprotectin[/wiki] or [wiki]fecal lactoferrin[/wiki] tested?

4. Have you had any tests done to look higher up in your small intestine? Pill cam, MRE, small bowel follow through, etc?

5. Have you been evaluated for Celiac Disease and various food sensitivities?

6. When you had blood in your stool, was it bright red or dark?

I hope they get things figured out soon :) What I know is I wouldn't let them put me on an "IBS Diet" and wash their hands of me until they had run just about every test in the book.

Hey,

When I got diagnosed last year it all started around this time and at first I thought it was my IBS. I went to the doctor with severe stomach cramps and bleeding to which he put down to IBS again and put me on some anti spasmodics. Now this never worked and I kept going back to the doctor and he kept saying the same thing. In the end I went to a different doctor, he sent me for blood tests and found my c reactive protein was 77 when it should be less than 7. This prompted him to send me to a GI Specialist. Now he suspected Crohns. In between seeing my GP and seeing the Specialist I went into hospital for 7 weeks with lots and lots of pain. A few weeks after I got home I was called in for a colonoscopy and they went right the way around my intestines and found Crohns disease where the small bowel meets the large bowel.

What I suspect they might have done with you is not gone far enough around your bowels to see further in.

Sorry if this isn't any help

Xxx

Thank you for your repliés.
Basically the biopsies taken the last time i was told "were all fine". I was tested for celiac which came back negative. The only tests i have had were endoscope and colonoscopy and blood tests nothing else. In the most récent scope gi said he was able to get aprx 10 niches into my small bowel. When i bleed at times Its mixed with stools Is dark today it was bright the in he bowl but two small clots were darker red it was vert mixed with the stools also which was bright red

If it's dark blood, there's a chance that is from higher up in your intestines than the colonoscopy would see.

If they want to say IBS I'd definitely ask for fecal calprotectin or fecal lactoferrin first.

Thank you i know i shouldnt but can be passive when it comes to the médical profession so can i mention this to my own doctor for a referral for this?
