Hi everyone.I haven't been on in a long time.Closing in on a year. I have had what was thought to be ibs now for 8 years, but last year I underwent gi testing(e.g.d. colonoscopy, small bowel follow through etc etc.) My ct scan showed bowel wall thickening but since all of the other tests turned out fine, they called it ibs again and sent me on my way with ibs meds.
Now a year later-THIS is Scary!!
I go to the gyno(sex hurts bad!) They think it is p.i.d. they give me meds, and things don't get better, but worse. So I go to the e.r. for testing...I did not have p.i.d. but what they find on c.t. scan again is bowel wall thickening...and want to do yet another small bowel follow through.
I have also been diagnosed with chronic gastritis..I have fits where I throw up everything even small sips of water,to the point I throw up bile, and get dehydrated.I have been treated in e.r. now atleast 10 times for this in the past year!
What gives? My tests all but c.t. have always came back clear, but the only thing is I feel well when having tests done.Only have had symptoms before c.t. scans, never before colonoscopy or small bowel follow through.
Can the disease not show up on a follow through exam if it is not active?
I'm asking because once again my doctors are thinking it's crohn's.
They think my pelvic pain is related to my small frame(5ft4 and 90 lbs.) because parts of my small bowel are down around my pelvic bone and I have thickening in that area.
I was just wondering.Thank anyone who read this and replies,I understand it is long and I do appreciate it.

Sounds like you have a lot going on!
I can relate in the painful sex bit. I noticed that I sometimes experienced that too for a few years on and off before recent Crohns diagnosis and thought it was due to my size or the fact that my uterus is apparantly flipped a bit backwards.
I have Crohns in the ileum region too and I guess maybe that is the issue - though I don't know how long I may have had that brewing and haven't had a partner for longer than I care to mention!
Good luck getting this sorted. I'd be interested in hearing other women's experiences with this too - with the constant 'pressure' feelings I have in my belly I wonder if I'll ever be able to have sex again!

My first ER visit for my bowel issues (Nov. 2008) I was diagnosed with PID. My cervix actually felt slightly painful and intercourse was uncomfortable, but I had a strong suspicion that it was not gynecological related. Went to follow up with an OBGYN who confirmed my suspicion that it was NOT PID (pretty commonly misdiagnosed) and that my ovaries felt fine.

And yes, it's true that not all testing will pick up IBD. There are several people here who've had numerous testing done with little or no results. Crohn's only appears in 1 out of 6 colonoscopies, too and it's best if the tissue is biopsied. I still haven't had a diagnosis, but we've been circling in on Crohn's since March after clearing out appendix problems, PID, ovarian cysts, etc.
