I'm just recently diagnosed and currently have my period. Right now I'm writing this curled up in a ball on my bed because the pain is so bad. Before I was diagnosed ibuprofen was the only thing that would take my cramps away but I've read it's not good for people with Crohn's?

I have an appointment with my GI tomorrow but could anybody suggest anything to help take the pain away now? The hot water bottle is only helping to a certain extent :(

Are painful periods normal? I'm also currently on 3mg of budenofalk 3 times a day.. Could this be effecting my period?

There definitely seems to be a connection between the Crohns and period pain. I had the same issue last week when I was on my period. I was taken Paramol tablets to help with the pain which have paracetamol and dihydrocodeine in them.

Besides the heating pad/hot water bottle I use pamprin cramp formula (it contains acetaminophen, magnesium salivate, and pamabrom) to help deal with the added period pain.

For me, the periods aggravate the CD. So yes the pain is worse at that time.

I hope you find something that works for you.

Were you able to talk to your doctor about this? I hope you were able to get some answers to help with your pain. Hopefully you're feeling at least some better tonight...

My UC symptoms for sure get worse during my period. Makes me slightly thankful my period is irregular and short. I take Tylenol (acetaminophen) which is believed to be safe for IBD. I also second the hot pad, I love mine along with my hot water bottle and heated blanket.
