permanent scarring and operation

hi, who has permanent scars in their intestine? how did the operation go? do you need a poo bag now? can you get erections? doctor said some people need a bag and cant get erections. im a dude and im scared.

Where is your scarring, and how much bowel is affected? This is important to know. Most resections don't require a stoma/bag. I'm not sure why your doctor has alarmed you about erection issues. It is an incredibly rare complication.

ok, im going to be really honest..... my nerves were damaged in the intestine which caused me some trouble sometimes. He said its common for crohns patients. I think he was just telling me the most severe cases.

It seems mine has 2 elongated scarring areas and will require 2 sections of intestine removed.

And im getting married again soon so i dont want this problem anymore. if i dont get better, i wont marry. I have to make a decision whether its worth living with this disease or not.

Sorry to hear it. So there is small risk. Hope you have a great surgeon, and that all goes well. Most likely you will feel a lot better, after the healing period. Get as much info' from the surgeon as you can about what he's going to do. It helps ease the mind...
Hey good luck. It's actually good to have something to look forward to, like getting married. Try not to worry about the what ifs.. it's pointless.
all the best.

I don't think it should be much worth worrying about - I have had 6 surgeries - four for resections, one to put on a temporary ostomy and one to remove it. Three of these surgeries came with half a year of getting married (and had me in the hospital for almost two months). If she's really worth marrying, this should not be an issue. I have the joy of the world's most beautiful daughter, a great wife (and yes, the Crohn's does cause some friction periodically) and a new career that I love. Achievable dreams have made it easier for me to deal with my Crohn's.

I can only come at this from a female perspective, but like people have said, if this woman really loves you then she will help you deal with your physical problems when and if they occur. She deserves the right to choose to be with you, through the good and the bad and you shouldn't ruin your relationship based merely on a fear of non-performance. It might also be worth talking to a counsellor about your physical and mental issues dealing with this disease - it might make a surprising difference in the bedroom. I hope you the best of luck.

I completely agree with f_else. It honestly hears like your doctor is telling you about the most rare cases. I have never heard of this, but I'm sure it's a complication among many disease (not just Crohn's). I believe it is completely worth living with this disease. I might not always agree with that on the surface, but I do deep within always. And I'm sure your partner would agree. Make sure that you talk to them about your feelings. They have the right to decide for themselves.

Best wishes <3

I've had two surgeries so far and I don't need to use any bag.
And the one-eyed-snake is alive and kicking. ;)

I understand you will be fine after surgery. You could look for another doctor to get a second opinion.
