So I got a call from my doctors office and my pill cam showed inflammation consistant with Crohn's disease. And she said also said it was consistant with my bowel resection...only problem is I have never had a resection...so I questioned the nurse about that and she said I have no clue...so they have worked me back in for the doctor to go over my results on Monday.

I then made her repeat the last part and asked did they get me confused with anyone else and she said no, only one Melinda Varner we see...so my question is how could my bowels look like they have been resected when they haven't?

Any ideas??? (I'm a year in to trying to get correctly diagnosed..got diagnosed first with Mastocytic Enterocolitis, and have since had the diagnosis changed to Crohn's)

Thanks so much!

Their has obviously been a mistake, i would play it cool untill you hear what your doctor tells you on monday, that will be the main factor nurses do make mistakes...

and perhaps see more than one doctor and try and get a referal to a specialist gastro doctor in the hospital.

That's weird Mandy. Other than a mistake, I can't think of an explanation either. Let us know what it ends up being :) Good luck!

Well it would have to be a mistake since you haven't had a resection. I guess the question is, have they reported on the wrong person or has the person who reported on the images been given the wrong history. If it was noted on your history that you had had a resection then perhaps inflammation, that may have caused scarring and narrowing, gave the appearance of an anastomosis?? Of course all speculation on my part!

One thing though, it would have to have been a straightforward resection as there was obviously no "missing parts" like the ileocaecal valve and caecum!

As Alice (in wonderland) said...'Curiouser and curiouser!'
