Well....I had my dreaded pill camera test on Monday and while things had a rocky start, I was able to complete it....as far as we know. The problem occurred right at the beginning with the camera not proceeding into the small bowel. I walked the floors for 2 hours hoping to jar it through, with no luck. So they decided to put an iv in me (which didn't go well and resulted in me almost vomiting and fainting. I suspect it might have been dehydration and the added fear of a scope that was my next option) Oh the joys of an uncooperative body. So once they were able to successfully get the iv in they put some medicine in that was supposed to speed up the digestive process. Unfortunately in all the turmoil I did not catch the name of it. My gi specialist was called in and admonished me for laying down and not walking. uggh But at that point it had proceeded through and I was able to go home for awhile and give it time to pass through.

But starting Tuesday morning my stomach literally feels like someone is wringing it. The pain and knots are becoming more intolerable. Especially on eating. I also get some bowel pain but really not that bad. I have never had this happen with a bowel prep before and im sure the pill has been expelled. Anyone else have this happen? I am wondering if it is to do with the medicine I was given as I have researched the prep and cant see anything like this listed as a side effect. Any one?

Has someone checked to make sure the cam has passed? When mine was done, they took an x-ray at the end. For me, the cam decided to play games though and hid out below the radiation apron - it lodged in my anus and caused an obstruction.

If you get signs of obstructions - severe bloating, inability to pass gas and/or stools, vomiting - get to an ER.

No one needs to check that the camera has passed. I saw it yesterday come out. And really the pain is mostly in my stomach. This is the confusing part. At the moment I have not passed any stool at all since returning to solid foods on Monday evening. This is not necessarily unusual for me after a bowel prep but I will be on the look out for these sign...thank you.

Hi Cmack

That's funny, but no, I do not need to return the camera capsule to the doctors so they can examine. Im keeping that for my scrapbook. :) They attach a band around your waste and a small device to record the images that the camera takes.

This morning I have eaten a banana and the pain is only minimal so hoping it has adjusted to whatever the issue was and will improve more as the days go by.
