Hi there,
I've been looking over this forum and I thinks it's great how everyone is ready to give advice and support. I'm here to ask for some major help that I hope doesn't bother anyone. I have written on here that I've been depressed about having crohn's for about 14 years. It's been great to see the replies from others who have been through this. The depression comes and goes and I've tried different things at different times. I have to say that most of the depression comes with not really knowing what to eat and so I eat less and less and become weak. Also the uncertainty of needing a bathroom at any time.

Last year I went into a major depression and became very isolated. To pull myself out, I tried volunteering with kids and I also joined TEAM CHALLENGE. Many of you know that this is part of the Crohn's Colitis Foundation of America.

I now have to raise $2,900 to meet the goal so that I can participate in this half marathon in June. I've gotten off to a rocky start and the thought of having to pay this amount myself has made me more depressed. People have slowly donated through facebook, but I'm very far behind.

Please, if anyone can help with ANYTHING, I would truly be grateful. There are sponsorship opportunities that put the name of your business on the team shirts plus advertising and exposure for your business at the team meetings; these start at $250. But PLEASE know that ANYTHING is appreciated.

Please forward this link through twitter, facebook, and email if you would like to help support the CCFA.

Thanks so much for reading my story!:thumleft: Siri

I think this is great that you have taken this on, Siri, though the amount does seem a bit daunting. Is there anything you could do locally? I'm thinking car boot sales etc. Charge people a small 'pitch' fee. Ask people to donate one item as a raffle prize and proceeds go to the fund. Get kids to do car washes and they keep a percentage of what they make.
Local companies might donate prizes for bingo if they get a mention.

Thanks for your support. I'm willing to try different fund raising ideas, I just thought that maybe people living with crohn's or colitis would be interested in donating $5 or $10 if they are able. I will update on any progress!

another thought for raising funds, make small donate boxes and put them in your local stores, call your local newspaper and have them do a story on your story. getting the word out will only help your cause. good luck !!!:)
