Hi All

Please help

I think i have all the symptoms of Crohn's. I have been having severe abdominal pain now for over 10 months now and lost over 2 stone in 2 month and still loosing weight, i have a poor appetite and can't eat large meals. My pain is mainly in the centre of my abdomen where my belly button is but i also have pain where my appendix is and where my gall bladder is. I also have Asthma. I have had ct scans and a Colonoscopy and Gastroscopy which came back normal apart from it showed that i had haemorrhoids and Oesophagites, Hiatus Hernia, Oesophageal Ulcer, Polypoid Gastritis with Erosions.I have also had a pill cam which the GP has just received the report from the Gastroenterologists and it says that they have found patchy erythema in the proximal small bowel but that doesn't explain my symptoms, i am going back to see my Gastroenterology team on Monday so any ideas would be great thanks. I have done a bit of research and spoke to a friend of mine who has Crohn's and he thinks me symptoms sound like Crohn's but what about you people?

Ask the gi about doing a MRI. It is possible you could have Crohn"s but I don't know for sure.

Have you had any labwork? CRP, Sed rate, or fecal calprotectin? Those results could also be helpful in determining whether you have inflammation present.

Also were you sick with a cold /flu etc prior to all this starting ?
Post infectious gastroenteritis can cause symptoms up to a year later
Gastroparesis can cause you to get full quickly
This can be seen on a gastric emptying scan

Not had a fecal Calprotectin test.

been checked for Gastroparesis and gastroenteritis and other infections all came back clear.

Hi been to the Gastro Drs at the hospital today and got all the results back fro the tests and they can't find out what is wrong with me. I made the suggestion that i thought it was Crohn's and she said it definitely wasn't and that the inflammation that they found was down to the medication i had been taking. But couldn't explain the large amount of weight i have lost over 2 stone and am still loosing, 5Lb in 1 week. She has prescribed some iron tablets and buscopan and is going to do a breath test to test for bacteria in my stomach and bowel. By the way i have had a H Pylori test which came back negative. So at the movement i am back to square one still on pain and still loosing weight, not knowing what to do next.

Gastroparesis is not an infection
It’s where the gut empties very slowly causing pain
And the person to eat very little
It can only be determine by a gastric emptying scan
You have to eat a special meal and have many scans
Over 4 hours
