I have been doing well on my medications for Crohn's for a few years (6mp, Lialda.) When I do experience Crohn's, I get lower right quadrant pain. This weekend, I have upper pain above my naval, that I can't get rid of. I called my Gastro group on Saturday and at first, the doctor thought it was indigestion and recommended Mylanta. However, the pain did not go away. I called the group today and the doctor looked at my chart and thought it could be a Crohn's flare up. He then prescribed me Entocort.

Do you think this could be a Crohn's flare? It feels like someone punched me. Even when I pass gas or go to the bathroom, the pain does not go away. I also don't have much of an appetite.

It's possible that it could be a flare. Crohn's can make us feel pain in all sorts of places. I have had the pain above the belly button before, but for me it was more of a crampy pain. Have you used Entocort with success for a flare before? I guess if you try the Entocort and the pain goes away...it could be a flare. If the pain doesn't go away maybe they could do some imaging for you like an MRE to see if there is stricturing. I hope you feel better soon!

It could also be an issue with your gall bladder, have you had that checked yet? Will post more from my laptop tomorrow but wanted to get that thought out there.

Hi kh216,

What sort of blood work have you gotten done? Were there any significant changes/ red flags?

Thank you for all of your replies. Right before I felt this, I had an appt with my GI doctor and he said that my C Reactive Protein was elevated. I couldn't get an appt with my gastro doctor this week but I saw my primary. I had an ultrasound of the right quadrant done and I am waiting for the results of that. My next appt with my GI appt is Nov.5 I wanted the appt sooner than that but my regular GI doctor has rounds at the hospital this week.

Nov. 5 is right around the corner..only a few days. Glad they can see you so soon even if it is not sooner.

It's possible it could be a flare but if that is the only symptom you are having it is good to get a full check up. Are you having any other symptoms other than the lower quadrant pain? Good luck on your appointment next week
