Hey everyone! I have a question about what is considered an actual flare. I know I have had at least two of them according to what I think a flare is. My first one I had d several times a day and would also wake up at night to use the bathroom. I had pain and cramping on my lower right side, middle, and joint pain. I couldn't eat hardly anything. I would get sick feeling just after a few bites and stomach pains. Sometimes d right away, but sometimes within an hour or so afterward. So, here is the question, can you be in a.flare up without constant d. I went to a new gi doc like 3 and a half weeks ago. My symptoms at that time was a couple mouth sores on the side of my tongue, cramping, pain in stomach. The urge to have a bm, but was constipated. Occasionally loose stools. Some.joint pain in my left knee(which isn't new, but has been increasing in frequency ). And some pain on the lower right side. My new gi said these sounded more like ibs. She said my old Med records didn't clearly show crohns. I had a colonoscopy in 2005 when I was first diagnosed. And had a biopsy show results that were consistent with ibd. So that confused me, but oh well. She wants me to get another colonoscopy next month. These past few weeks my pain and stomach cramping has increased with pain on both lower right side and lower left. Joint pain in both knees, ankles, and lower back, and hips. The pain in my back was so bad the other night with back spasms that kept me awake. It didn't matter if I was sitting or lying down I was in pain. I have had a few days with the constant d, and having to rush to the bathroom. Also, the stomach pains and sick feeling when you cant eat or finish earing. But other days no d, but still the stomach pain and consistent joint pain. And I still have the mouth sore that preceded most of these symptoms. Sorry for the long post. I just don't know if I should call the doc and tell her about these changing symptoms. I am in constant pain especially my joints. I don't necessarily want meds, but would like to know if these symptoms are related or am I losing my mind. Oh and my vitamin d is low and my fingernails are bumpy and some have ridges. I think I read something on here about crohns affecting fingernails. Please correct me if I am wrong. My symptoms are definitely not as severe as other people's post that I have read. I feel for all of you. That's one reason I don't want to make a big deal about this. Maybe I just need to suck it up and get over it. Thanks for listening to me. I am so grateful to have found this forum. Tracy
