I was diagnosed with Crohn's when I was 17 years old and am now going on 23. The majority of my symptoms have been nausea, chronic diarrhea, abdominal pain, rapid weight loss, and fatigue. Seems I may have developed a new symptom, maybe.
It started about a year and a half ago when I was out on a date and all of a sudden I had the feeling that I started my period because I felt a rush of liquid drop into my underwear. Yet this was odd because my period never starts as a rush, but hey things happen. Anyways I go to check and I am greeted by a bright yellow substance, immediately I think STD. When I get home I examine my underwear again and the yellow liquid has dried into a bright GREEN substance. Okay I thought, I finally lucked out and contracted something serious. I call the doctor and set up an appointment but not before I snap a photo of the mystery slime that has made a home on my unsuspecting drawls.
Once at the doctors we start talking about symptoms. Is it smelly? no, actually it's odorless. Do you itch? nope. Is there any pain? again big resounding no.
so she opens me up and notes that she sees small traces of the discharge but my vaginal tract looks fine and healthy actually. In her words she said it didn't look mean down there. She swabs it, and goes to look under a microscope. They notice nothing abnormal. So I pee, have blood taken, then am sent home to wait on std results. Before I leave though I show her my photo and she becomes confused saying that the green discharge I have is not the usual color of std's that present green discharge as a symptom.
I get the results back and everything comes out negative. Okay, but why in the hell am I having yellow and green discharge? Eventually the discharge starts to have small black specs in it, almost like old blood. I decide to call the doctor back. Basically she rules it as "my bodies new normal" and that it's most likely just a hormonal thing. THERE IS NOTHING NORMAL ABOUT WHAT WAS GOING ON DOWN THERE I TELL YOU. But I was sick of worrying so I just believed her. Eventually the discharge stops for awhile and I chalk it up to some freak thing. Then I get into a relationship were we are sexually active and it comes back but this time without the green hue. It's just yellow and stays all month until my period comes around. The amount varies though and seems to be worse after my period. I start to notice pieces of an unknown substance come along with the discharge that resembles the texture and look of skin. Its not always there but usually is when a large quantity of discharge is expelled.
My newest symptom is gas releasing at the same time of the discharge. I'm hard pressed to believe it's a (excuse my terminology) queef. I have very good control of my kegal muscles and can (again excuse me) Queef on command. I have never experienced it happening without my intention of doing so unless while having intercourse. In this case the air expels on its own without me doing any pushing or even knowing it's going to happen.
Today when it happened I noticed a slightly odd smell but nothing close to the smell of my bowel movements. My yeast infections have a stronger odor than this. The yellow color is exactly the same color of my loose bowel movements as well.
Anyways, I would like to know if anyone with a Recto Vaginal Fistula has had a similar experience, or if it may be something else.
Also I haven't been in to see a doctor for these new symptoms because I aged out of my parents insurance when I finished college a few months ago. I'm looking for a good insurance plan for a crohnie and any possible suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
