Hi
Just curious to hear the opinions and personal experiences out there

I had a bowel resection almost 4 weeks ago with 10cm of terminal ileum removed. And wanted to know if after a certain recovery period , now that I am officially crohns free will i be able to eat all foods that I avoided previously?

At the moment I'm getting some cramps similliar to prior surgery if I eat a wider variety of foods and I'm wondering if it's related to surgery or if I can expect it to change after I have fully recovered.

It really varies from person to person. In what sense are you Crohn's-free? Were there any areas of inflammation at all outside of the section of bowel removed?

At four weeks on from surgery, you may still have a few weeks of healing to go, so symptoms at this time could be from your digestive system not being fully recovered from the surgery yet. However, it's not uncommon for some symptoms to persist despite removal of inflamed areas, and difficulties with foods goes along with that too.

What foods give you problems? Are the cramps just as bad as before the surgery, and do you have any other symptoms? Regardless of surgery, you may be able to treat the cramps with medication.

For me, any food is fine, some are just bad in excess (high fiber foods, really cheesy foods, etc). As said above, trial and error. But I basically haven't had adverse reactions to food for over a year now.

I was really cautious well over a month out. Eventually, though, I was back to not thinking much about foods I used to avoid. Not everyone has that experience.
