Hi everyone!

I had my first surgery on 13th of October (2 weeks ago now)

but since the surgery, I can't seem to drink anything without it going straight through me, and food isn't much better.

I had a laparoscopic ileocolic resection + ant resection for ileosigmoid

How long should it usually take to be normal again?

:welcome: to the forum Gavinda. 2 weeks is certainly not the time to worry!!! I have had 2 resections and after having it in the Ileum, you never really have "normal" bowel movements. Loose is what it maybe be in the times yet to come. It also depends how much they took out. It varies from person to person but you have to let the bowels heal and that can take up to 6 weeks (just a guideline). I had to take Cholestyramine for about a year or two, but havent now in many years. Never have a "normal" bm anymore and I have 2ft total taken out.

Dont be in a rush..the insides take a while to heal and get over the shock of surgery. Ask the doctor for Questran...not a good idea to take Imodium. Keep us posted on how you are doing. :hang:
