Hi everyone, just wanted to share that I'm really starting to feel better! After being diagnosed only a couple of months ago, my GI started me on Pred and Aza around 2 weeks ago. These drugs were very scary for me (side effects wise) and I did consider not taking them (for about 5 seconds).

GI also put me on a bunch of vitamins (D, Calcium, Iron and B12 shots). I don't know whether it's the vits or the Pred, but I've been feeling sooooo much better since :D Just basically much less tired (I was having 3 naps a day, mostly on the train), happier, more alert and more patience with my hubby!

I've also had no D for over a week now, and no sudden needs to run to the toilet! I know it's not over, this is a lifelong illness, but now I know how good it feels to feel normal! This has been the best week I can remember for years!

I've had only a couple of minor side effects (numb tongue, felt a bit funny a couple of days) and this has been such a relief. I honestly expected the worst when starting these drugs, and I've been so pleasantly surprised. It's still early days tho...

Anyway, just wanted to share something positive with you all, as this is my new favourite website! I've learnt a lot just from reading others experiences - I think every disease out there should have a great supportive forum like this!!!

So glad to hear you're doing well! It's great to hear positive experiences and updates! Here's to hoping it lasts!

Oh wow!!! Excellent news georgie. Keeping my fingers and toes crossed that this lasts for a very long time to come.

YAY for you!!! :):):)

I know the feeling georgiegirl! Feeling so much better made me realize what I was missing out on - it is nice to have strength and normalcy back, huh? Don't overdo it though, you're still healing. Baby yourself. ;) I'm so happy for ya.

Thanks every one. Not 10 mins after writing this this morning, my husband decided he would like pancakes for breakfast. Thinking that sounded good, I made them and had some too. Surprise surprise - I then spent ages on the toilet, and I've been exhausted since!!!

Shannon - I think I might have overdone it! That's one lesson learned anyway...

A huge thing about this illness is trial and error, don't let this get you down! Stay positive!!

take care

Great you are feeling good.. itis probably the high dose of Prednisone. Been there and I know that it works. The pancakes may not have what hurt you in itself, it is the syrup, and frying it, and butter... alot of people think it is what they eat not how it is cooked or what you put on it. Most people can tolerate boiled potatoes, but when fried it will hurt ya. Just an observation. Funny I have gluten free pancakes....

Hey Georgiegirl,

That's great that things are looking better.
I had a craving for pancakes this morning too, but I was in a bit of a rush so stuck with my morning smoothie.
Ive been having the same learning curve too lately. I try to push myself too quickly and end up going backwards. I get so impatient, but I'm learning.
I hope you get over the pancake ordeal quickly and get back to feeling great.

Paul

Hiya Georgie

I hate to love Pred, but I do!
It saved my life 9 months ago, and healed me nicely, I'm on it again now for a bit. And I've got a numb tongue too!
But cos of the energy, it can mask certain symptoms, so don't overdo it, and it gives a false sense of security too, that you can eat whatever you want, wrong!
So well done for feeling better, enjoy it!
xxx
