Hello Friends,
After struggling with CD symptoms for several months, I've finally been put on a light dose of Prednisone.

For the first time since 2008, I feel AMAZING. My docs won't tell me how long I'll be on the pred and now that I'm feeling so good, I'm scared to go off it. BUT I know that staying on it for long periods of time is not good.

What are your opinions about staying on Pred for a long time? What happens when you come off of it? How does this work?

Hi. I've been on prednisolone for longer than I care to remember. I've tried to cut down to below 5mg and had to call out the doctor because I felt so ill, and I didn't know why. Increasing the dose has made me feel better, but at what cost? I bruise easy on my arms and hands, and have got hairier (is that a minus?). I'm probably suffering other side effects from them, but it's hard to pin down what drug is causing what problem :) My advice would be to try not to get too dependent on them, and stay on them for as shorter time as possible. Good Luck!

Yep, loved it while I was on it the first time. I came off and everything started back up again, so back on I went, this time with Imuran. The second time wasn't so great as I had a lot more side effects (weight gain, moon face, facial hair). I am now off and happy to be so. I am still having issues, but not enough to make me want to go back on. However, I will always look back on that first time with bliss. I agree with Rick, try not to stay on too long, it is very hard on your bones and teeth as well.
