Prednisone Cloud 9...?

Hello Friends,
After struggling with CD symptoms for several months, I've finally been put on a light dose of Prednisone.

For the first time since 2008, I feel AMAZING. My docs won't tell me how long I'll be on the pred and now that I'm feeling so good, I'm scared to go off it. BUT I know that staying on it for long periods of time is not good.

What are your opinions about staying on Pred for a long time? What happens when you come off of it? How does this work?

Hi. I've been on prednisolone for longer than I care to remember. I've tried to cut down to below 5mg and had to call out the doctor because I felt so ill, and I didn't know why. Increasing the dose has made me feel better, but at what cost? I bruise easy on my arms and hands, and have got hairier (is that a minus?). I'm probably suffering other side effects from them, but it's hard to pin down what drug is causing what problem My advice would be to try not to get too dependent on them, and stay on them for as shorter time as possible. Yep, loved it while I was on it the first time. I came off and everything started back up again, so back on I went, this time with Imuran. The second time wasn't so great as I had a lot more side effects (weight gain, moon face, facial hair). I am now off and happy to be so. I am still having issues, but not enough to make me want to go back on. However, I will always look back on that first time with bliss. I agree with Rick, try not to stay on too long, it is very hard on your bones and teeth as well.
