9 mg Entocort is roughly equal to 40 mg Prednisone BUT you will not see the same side effects with Entocort, because only about 20% is absorbed systemically.
My kiddo was on Entocort for over a year and she only had a puffy face on it - none of the other side effects you see with Prednisone.
That said, Entocort is still a steroid. We recently saw an endocrinologist (she has Cushing's syndrome from being on steroids for so long - both Prednisone and Entocort) and we were told we REALLY have to minimize steroids as much as possible, even Entocort.
