Hi just after some advice
I have just found out I am 6 weeks pregnant... The thing is I stopped taking methrotaxte in May so 16 werks before I conceived. I was taking folic acid 400 mg daily until aug when I started taking 5 g daily and have continued this.
I am really concerned as the internet says to wait 3-6 months before getting pregnant , haven't got doctors til next week just need toput my mind at rest.

Sorry, I have no real advice, but I think the general rule of thumb is that many meds can stay in your system for up to 3 months, sometimes as long as 6, after you stop taking them. I seem to recall the same with the BC pill. Wait 3 months before conceiving, even better to wait for 6. But we all know of those who missed one pill and 9 mos later... and all was fine. Probably wqrrants a call to your r to ease your jitters, and hopefully someone will be along who can give you better info than I.

Thanks for ur reply . We was planning to concieve but not until November . The 6 month mark . But got a unexpected change to

Well, I don't have a clear answer for you Nikki but the information I'm reading varies from a site to another. There seem to be a 6 months mark to make sure every risks are out of the way but on other sources, I read that some specialist will suggest 1-6 months before conception. If that can ease your mind a little, methotrexate is supposed to be cleared from your system within about a week after the injection/ingestion.

It's possible your doctor will want you to run some specific prenatal tests to make sure you don't carry extra chances for certain pathologies linked to the folate depletion associated with the methotrexate.

I was told by my rheumatologist to wait 3 months after my last dose of methotrexate before we can start. Im sure your dr will be able to put your mind at ease.
