Hey well I am pregnant with my second child and have had crohn's for little over 5 years. Well with my first I had no problems. I just found out only 4 weeks along i think so I had quit taken all the medication I was taken for my crohn's (none was by a doctor) Now I need help.... trying to wait till I go to the doctor to ask her but thats not till July 2. Is it safe to take Imodium while pregnant?

Congrats on your pregnancy! You should be able to call your OB/GYN before your appt to ask that question.

Most things will say right on the bottle either don't take while pregnant or breast feeding or consult your physician. I would call them and ask to be sure.

Sometimes it depends on the stage of pregnancy and your health.

Meds and Pregnancy

Hi Mamma Jodi,

Congratulations on your pregnancy. I hope you find some relief soon. I would definitely check with your doc before taking the Immodium just to be sure.

I was interested by what you said about your medication. Did you mean that the medication was not prescribed by your doc or you went off your medication without consulting with your doc?

I'm very keen to start a family but I'm on Humira and not sure what I should do. My GI tells me that if I go off it there is more than a 50% chance that I will flare again, but there is so little research about the long term affects on the baby and I'm really confused.

When you found out you were pregnant did you just stop taking all your meds and is that when you flared?

I'm kinda going through the same thing right now. I am four weeks pregnant and I have been taking Lialda for about four years. I am trying to get some information about this drug. I am going to call my GI doc tomorrow. I think you should do the same thing. You need to be very careful about letting your crohns flare up. What is Immodium?
