Pretty sure I am starting a flare...

I've haven't been diagnosed very long so I am just now getting used to really connecting everything I feel and the symptoms to this disease. Anyway, I have been feeling generally blah...for about 5 days, in the back of my head thinking I was going to have a flare and 2 of the nights having intestional cramping that was bad enough I couldn't fall asleep for a while. This morning I had some streaking of blood in my poo (and more pain than usual), which I haven't had in weeks! I am guessing this kinda confirms it? Anyway I have 4 hydrocortisone enemas from my last flare (end of april/beginning of may) and I have more refills I can pick up. Should I just medicate myself without calling the doctor? I don't feel so awful where I think I should see him and I don't know what else he is going to tell me to do, this seems the same as the last. Should I just get used to figuring out when I should medicate on my own?

I don't think I would be having another flare if my husband didn't leave for another deployment. He is on a submarine, don't get to hear his voice for months, only about 1 email a week. Plus I am stressed about trying to find a job. Now I see where stress triggers this...:ymad:

I would call. He may just tell you to go ahead and medicate yourself, but you never know.

Good luck and try not to stress too much (though I can see why that situation would be incredibly difficult).

Hiya Starrburst

I would give them a ring, better being safe than sorry, I'm sure they won't mind you calling,
sorry you're stressing over some issues, try and relax about it, easy to say I know, but it can trigger so many manifestations
take care

Hi Starrburst,

Do you have an IBD nurse you can contact? I don't where I would be without mine.

I would always consult someone before changing my medication or if my symptoms had worsened as they may suggest something else but also its good to keep them informed of where you are at.

I do hope you feel better soon xx

Thanks for the replies...I did end up calling and talking to the nurse at my GI doctor's office. After talking to her I decided to wait until after the holiday weekend to see if I got worse... and I am feeling much better! I am not sure if it is because I got a job, so that stress is gone for now!!! Yay!

So great to hear you are feeling better. :)

WOOHOO and MEGA congratulations on getting a job.:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:

Take care,
Dusty

Congratulations on your job AND feeling better :D
I have to mention I got a little claustrophobic when you mentioned the submarine... I don't know how they do it!!! YIKES not only are they in a confined space but theyre also underwater. Reminds me of those Houdini tricks :D

Anyhow, Im rambling... so glad to hear you are employed and I hope you enjoy it and the time before your husband returns goes by quickly!!

Wendy
