Hi Guys
I had an ileostomy for Crohn's some years ago. Usual story fistula +++ etc.

Just wondered how people manage the communal showers at public swimming baths. Do you shower with swimming gear on or do you brave it and get your kit off - potentially exposing your bag to others.

Not sure whether to say sod it and go for it!

Best wishes

I haven't been in this situation but I would definitely keep the bag concelead but try to get soap and water on it if nobody was looking.

Thanks Guys - yep I keep bottoms on. But sometimes feel like just going for it and stuff what people think. Not brave enough though!

What's the worst that could happen? You get a dirty look? Shame on them.

I don't feel that it's necessary for anyone with an ostomy, oxygen tank, prosthetic limb, cast, cane or any other medical device, to feel uncomfortable or ashamed about showing it. These items have given most of us our life back and they should be celebrated. Some people get offended no matter what it is, so don't take it personally and enjoy the fact that you're well enough to even go swimming. :)

I have started to go gym. At first i didn't go to shower after training, i just rushed home and showered there. But now i have been shower after working out and no one even pays attention! I'm not sure has anyone even noticed that i have stoma :lol2: I don't mind if someone asks about it, i am quite open about it but no one has even look at it. Do i sound like i am disapointed? Well, yeah, i kind of am! lol :lol2:
