DD (13) typically complains of an achiness on her left side (mostly the lower quadrant). In addition, when we were at the GI the other day, he tapped the area below her sternum and she winced and indicated it hurt.
What does the location of her pain imply in terms of IBD?

It can imply where the active disease is located. At dx, my son complained about the area right under his sternum but at the physical with the GI the area to the right of his belly button was the most painful when the GI tapped. There can be referred pain also though.

I was just curious as I hear a lot about pain on the right side. DD's pain seems to be more to the left. Wasn't sure if that would imply a specific area of the digestive system may be impacted.

The right side often means that the disease is active in or near the ileum or cecum and the left side tends to involve the colon (descending or sigmoid).
