Sorry I haven't been on the forum in a long time, my memory isn't great so i forget im even on here lol..
but anyways, here's my question..
I've had my colostomy since Oct of 2010.. had no problems with anything since the surgery and my weight has been gained back and I feel alot better than ever before, but im so sick of this colostomy and I want it gone.. my doc says i have to have it for atleast 6 monts... is it possible to get it removed sooner if i haven't had any problems?

Hey Cory, I remember you!! I don't have any knowledge about the stoma but you were so unhappy before because of all the suffering, I can't imagine you would want to risk going back there. Good luck with your decision!!

hi Cory - so happy to hear how well you're doing right now, but i'm sorry you're having a hard time accepting the colostomy. i think your question is something only your surgeon or GI can answer for you - everyone is different, and i think when a reversal is planned, the timing of it can depend on a number of factors, including how poorly/debilitated you were pre-surgery, and what the state of things were inside you when they did the colostomy..

i know 6 months seems a long time, but maybe it's what your body needs right now.. a total rest, and a good healing time..
