Hello, I'm a new member and newly diagnosed with Crohn's. I've been experiencing a flareup for the last 3 1/2 weeks. I guess in the scheme of things that's not very long, but I don't seem to be getting any relief from the medication and I have an odd symptom that I'm not sure about. Just about every joint in my body hurts... my knees, my elbows, my shoulders, hips, and fingers. I can barely move. Is this normal? My other symptoms are frequent and bloody bowel movements (3 already today and it's only 10:30 am), and a very sore bottom. :poo: I was put on Asacol and Entocort. I've got a call in to my GI doctor, but he's on rounds, and I haven't heard from him yet. Thank you for any advice or help!

Hi Laurie sorry to hear about your pain but joint pain is a normal side effect of crohns disease. Many of us know it well. Definitely tell your GI about blood in stools and if it becomes a lot you might want to go to the ER.

How long have you been on the meds? Entocort worked fairly quickly for me. A couple weeks, maybe? But yes, joint pain is common. I only get it in my right hip, but it happens every flare.

The Entocort was just added a week ago. I thought I was having a bad reaction to the Entocort, but the doc doesn't seem to think so. Even so, we have just decided to switch to Prednisone.
