I am new to all this. I saw my colorectal surgeon last week who told me i had Crohns but would not give me an official dianogsis. But in stead referred me to a Gastro Dr. Who i have yet to hear from.

So right now i am treating my self for my symptoms. I have been using Motrin, Tylenol and T3s. Somedays a combination ....I worry at times about taking too much. But then when the pain hits all icare about is easing the pain.

I read somewhere that i shouldnt be taking ibuprofen cause it can aggravate symptoms. But in all honesty if i take 2 motrin and 2 T3 it does more for the pain ....it never completely makes it go away, but it does lessen it to a point where i can usually function for the most the part. Not always but somedays.

Should i be doing something different??? should i be taking soemthing different??? What can i expect for treatment when it does start?

My butt cheek aches alot where my seton and fistula are. And that pain i can help lessen with heat and rest. But the cramps taht are constant somedays.......well you all know.

i dont have too much trouble eating, thankfully at least not this week. A couple weeks ago i had No appetite what so ever. But i dont over eat as this seems to aggravate my symptoms too.

Can i use something such as an Immodium or such so i can actually leave the hosue for an hour? or are things like that a no-no.

I really havent been told anything. All along i have been treated for the pain from the abscess and fistulas. Not for any tummy pain. So now i am wondering if i am doing the wrong or right thing.

any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I'm pretty sure you shouldn't be taking ibuprofen at all, but tylenol is ok. I know, tylenol is crap. Codeine should help take the edge off, though! My last doctor told me immodium was ok in a pinch but you really should not be relying on it. Anything in excess is probably not ideal - and probably proof that your actual problems are not being addressed. Frankly, your GI doctor should be WAY MORE on top of this, especially if your pain isn't managed well. I'm so sorry you are having a rough go.

Any pain relief in the NSAIDs group should not be used (click the underline NSAID for more info)

Ive heard of people taking immodium with no problems. It will be best overall to see the GI and see how they can help.

It will be worth looking at the diet forum area as a lot of people find diets help a lot

i think the problem is that up until this year no one has really thought it was Crohns. So i was only using pain relief for my fistula/abscess pain. And the drs all said advil/motrin and tylenol was fine.

Now that i have way more symptoms --cramping esp and more and more trouble eating i am really trying to watch wht i do.

I do find the T3s take the edge off, but i hate that they constipate me a little. But seeing as i have been crampy all day.....its worth it to get rid of the pain.

I havent used immodium in months. But i have a wedding coming up i will be attending and am very concerned. I have a few months to figure this all out but iw ould like to be able to enjoy myself for once.

at least i seem to be able to hve a few drinks without too much trouble. If i over doi t....then ya i suffer!!!!

I will lay off the Motrin for a while

I may go see my NP and see about something stronger then T3s.....i hate to but.....sigh...

thanks!!!
