I tend to get UTI's and occasionally yeast or bacterial infections probably because of my Crohns. I haven't taken bubble baths in 2-3 years. I really want to again, they're so calming especially with candles around. What kind of bubble baths are safe for that womanly area? lol tell me what brands and what kind of stores have them please :)

I had to give up bubble baths for awhile as I was also having UTI/ yeast infections. Not due to Crohn's but do to being on hormonal BC.

I just used bath oils - very lightly or no products at all. Sometimes epsom salts or homemade epsom salts ( drops of your fav perfume mixed into a cup of epsom salts then placed in a jar and used 1/4 cup every bath). I often showered and washed everything off when getting out of the tub and that helped.

I also did the following - cotton underwear ONLY, no undies on while sleeping, drank Cranberry juice daily, took garlic piils, NO pantyhose everyday(occaisionally on ok) cut down on sweets in my diet, go get up and pee very soon after intercourse( I still do that cause if I forget I will still get a UTI from time to time)

Hope that info helps

I take bubble baths, and I am prone to thrush but never found that the baths contributed. For the record I never wash the inside as it is self cleaning, and just gently wash the outside with either plain water or a feminine hygiene product.

Ditto to the cotton undies (plain bikini briefs for me thank you- no thongs, boy shorts or lace as they just irritate) and go undie less at night. I also make sure I drink at least 1.5 litres of plain water a day, on top of anything else I drink.

Hi!

Ditto the above.

When I have either a bath or shower I use baby bubble bath or baby body wash. As well as being gentle and unperfumed, it's also a hell of a lot cheaper than fancy ones! I find if if so much as look at soap-based or perfumed products I start itching!

I've always been prone to thrush and UTI's, but the Crohn's is only recent so I guess it's just my delicate balance - Ha! Ha!

The UTI's are definitely triggered by shagging:ybiggrin:(hence I don't get them very often:rof:), so to prevent that I have a very romantic post-coital trimethoprim which has solved that problem. I believe that trimethoprim is metabolised through the renal system and so has little effect on gut flora, and is less likely to cause thrush than other antibiotics.

How do you get a hold of nitrofurantoin for after sex? lol it's prescription based, people actually use that antibiotic after sex to prevent infection? You can only get antibiotics after going to the doc WITH an infection.............

Aren't UTI, bladder infections, Yeast infections due to so much diarrhea? I've heard it is. Or is it my BC pill for my menorrhagia?

My GP prescribes the trimethoprim for me to use this way - it was his suggestion - and it works a treat. It is a recognised preventative treatment. About 20 years ago I had to use antibacterial creams before sex which was a real passion killer, I can tell you!

i always get these problems when its that time of the month.. it sucks - majorly!
and i definitely found that not cleaning the "inside bits" really helped - like rebecca said. because now i just get minor symptoms

Feces is chock full of nasty bacteria, so diarhea and any fistulas could be spreading the bugs about so much that UTI could possibly be from that. Make sure you wipe front to back so the poop is not being spread to all the girl parts. Seems silly to have tell that - but I know some were not taught that. Maybe use flushable wipes to really clean up??

Like I said, my troubles all started with BC pills. And no one told me to pee after intercourse had to have a nurse tell me that when I was about 28!

Cranberry juice has an ingrediant that makes the bladder walls slippery so that bacteria has a hard time sticking to it. Garlic will help with the yeast infections.

Any sort of ******** is a real no no as your vaginal flora is very protective and if disturbed can really give you problems. Also make sure if you are having repetitive yeast issues to treat your partner as well as he may be reinfecting you.

this may sound silly but growing up bubble baths always gave me problems too. I used dishsoap instead and always rinsed my parts real well after. Never had further problems.

I might try buying baby bubble bath stuff so it won't irritate me lol but I'll feel funny buying it because I don't have kids and I have no desire to ever have any children lol.........

So? I use baby products all the time! They work out much cheaper than using specialised 'grown up' products. I regularly use baby wipes and nappy cream to keep my bum happy. Baby bath and oil to keep my skin happy. Baby shampoo to keep my scalp happy. And nappy bags to clean up after my dog. And I'm partial to eating a rusk or two...

Oh how I LOVE Wiki!

A rusk is a hard, dry biscuit or a twice-baked bread. It is sometimes used as a baby teething food. In the United Kingdom, the name also refers to a wheat-based food additive.

Rusks are also softened with warm milk to make a mushy babyfood for weening.Very old recipe, think it goes back to WW2.can still buy them although I think young mums have now got a lot more choice

haha, i love this conversation about rusks. amy loved them, i used to put them in the fridge, so it would be nice when she was teething.

be warned though... mushy rusk when it dries is so tough to clean!!
