About 2 months ago I developed a rash on my nose along with patches of really dry skin on my forehead and nose that haven't gone away. Now it seems like everytimr I eat any type of carbs or sugar I develope acne on my face. I also get cysts when have any type of dairy and have developed a lactose intolerance. I have never had problems with any food until about 2 months ago. I have also lost a lot of weight in about 2 months. I've had loose stools and constipation for about two months. I've also had pain in the right side of my abdomen that only occurs when I eat any type of carbs or sugar. I don't have diabetes so I that can't be causing it. I also get joint pain in my knee after eating that goes away. All of these symptoms started after I went on a fishing trip to the lake. Does anyone have an idea to what this is?

it can be some sort of skin inflammatory condition (dermatitis) such as eczema.
consult a doctor with all your new symptoms written on a paper.
in the mean time I'd avoid all these trigger food. Food ''intolerances'' can express themselves at any point in life. Just avoid all of them for a while and see how it goes. wishing you well.

when you were at the lake, do you remember being bitten by an insect?

I just think it's odd that I started developing a bunch of intolerances right after I went to the lake. I ate some fish that I caught so I'm wondering if it's some sort of parasite. Do people with crohns normally have problems with all starches and sugar? It seems like anytime I eat these things my symptoms get worse but if i eat meat and vegetables they go away.

people react to different things, but some diets are indeed based on eliminating starches and sugars. it could be also just a conincidence also that you developped these issues right after your fish trip. i think its important you go see a doctor since you ve been 2 months with these symptoms and especially you mention losing a lot of weight.
when I was yet to be diagnosed, I was in disbelief I could have a disease and really thought I simply had ''bugs'' inside. This may not be your case, but its important you get this checked by a doctor. wishing you well.

Thank you. I just want to rule out an infection so I'm seeing a doctor this week and I'm going to get a CT scan as well. Do you think I should get a colonoscopy or endoscopy? I just want to make sure I don't have crohns or UC. I would think an endoscopy would be the best since weight loss is normally related to the small intestine.

first steps could also be blood reports and fecal calprotectine (stool test). these tests are easy and non-invasive and can help orient diagnosis. are you seeing a GI doctor?

What type of blood test? I had a CRP blood test already that came up as normal. My C3 and C4 was also normal. I am seeing a GI in two weeks to get a colonoscopy.

ok you probably had the complete blood report including CRP and sedimentation rate. Those can be normal in some patients even if inflammation is active. mine are always normal unless my episode becomes severe. its good you have colonoscopy, this will examine your entire colon and terminal ileum (last part of small intestine) a very common spot for crohns disease. let us know how it goes. good luck.

cramps fallowed by bloody/mucous diarrhea. we all have different symptoms depending on location or type of disease, so they can greatly vary from one patient to another. my rectum and left colon are mostly affected.

I wouldn't think minor cramping and constipation would indicate crohns but we'll see. Hopefully my doctor can do a crohns blood test.
