really sick

Well my crohns disease was going well, they took me off the steriods like 3 days ago, i was having no stomach pain, and my stools were normal, and i was only going once a day. But i got a cold, which lead to a sinus infection, which lead to 2 ear infections, which lead to pink eye. So they put me on anti-biotics and now the stomach pain is back, im going to the bathroom like 4 times a day, diareah which is no fun.

Heh....

I got the ear infections last fall. Near deaf I was.

Perhaps you should step up taking probiotics to counter the antibiotics.

Hopefully things clear up for you.

aw sorry to hear that brad.

yeah GJ's suggestion is a good one, probiotics are important. c-diff can result from antibiotic usage and you dont want that!
antibiotics always seemed to trigger my crohns, sometimes flaring me so bad i needed hospitalization, so be careful ok?
if it starts getting severe, the D especially, then please consider stopping them. ive gotten antibiotic shots before when i desperately needed them to avoid them passing thru my intestinesand i believe it saved me a lot of grief. just something to consider.
good luck, let us know how you are doing

Sorry you are not feeling well. I think you helped me figure out the start of my lastest flare. I had a viral infection that really stuffed my head up. The Dcotor gave me a nose spray which is steroid based. After stopping it my stomach pain got worse over several weeks !! No diarrhea just stomach pain.

hi brad,
i echo everyone's comments. i take align (brand of probiotics)...two weeks so far and am already noticing its benefits.

I looked into that Align stuff... it only has 1 billion units of bacteria whereas mine has 10 billion units GNC brand) ... and that VSL #3 stuff has 400 billion units.

if you want to get some probiotics from yogurt--you can make you own at home.
the homemade type doesnt contain the same elements as the dtore bought kind that irritates some crohnies.
it is lactose free due to the fermentation process.

its pretty easy tp do, it just takes 24 hours for the fermentation to take place during this time you need to leave it int the pven or with a heat lamp or something, so it can be a little hassle. let me know if u want more details....

in my opinion, getting probiotics from a food source that youve made in your own house is just about as good as you can get, as that way you guaruntee the integrity of the organisms. may not be as many in there as in some supplememnts, but you can be sure that they have not been killed off from improper storage during transport, etc all those problems that arise when you are buying a product where you have no control over how it is handled

Hey Kel, get a yogurt maker. A lot less hassle and it's ready to go overnight.

This is the one I got. Paid like, 25 bucks for it.

Between the homemade (which I have for breakfast) and small bottles of Danone Probiotic drink (which, for convenience sake I take to work), that's my yogurt intake.

I too take probiotic supplements: 1 Nature's Way Primadophilus Reuteri (5 billion units) and 3 of Garden of Life Primal Defence.

lol GJ my mom did buy one....but it did not make yogurt. it made warm milk.

so either we did something wrong or it was a crappy version.
from there we went back to cooking it in the oven, and then i went off scd and didnt really eat it anymore, i know i should though.

does yours work well? maybe i would be more likely to eat it if it were easier to cook...
