Ok so i had a bowel resectioning done a year ago. I was great until recently, i started having pain in my gall bladder region (ive only had active chrons in my illeum and small bowel). It took months and a lot of pestering my G.I. and a recent stay in the hospital to find i have "new disease" thats now active (20 centimeters) in my upper colon. Well no questions asked next thing i kno im on reicade n its made me feel sick tired and extremely dizzy.. Is remicade a life long treatment? Ive heard so many negatives on the drug can anyone give me a hand here about all this please please please

I was started on Remicade immediately after I got my diagnosis, about a year ago. I also started 6MP at the same time. Within days after starting the Remicade, I felt an improvement, and it just kept getting better and better. For me, those 2 drugs have been amazing. Remicade may seem scary, but for a lot of people it works wonders! As for whether it's a lifelong treatment, well, there's no answer to that. You can be on it as long as you keep responding to it (which varies a lot from person to person), or until you have bad side effects, or until your GI decides to take you off for some other reason. I don't know if that helps, do you have any more specific questions?

Currently Crohn's is a life-long disease with no complete cure so doctors will recommend you always be taking some sort of medication even if you aren't flaring. The thing with Remicade is that while it seems to be effective for a lot of people, if you ever stop taking it your body will develop antibodies to it and it will either be less effective or you might even develop allergic reactions to it. If you have any specific questions fire away I will try to answer what I can.

Personally I love Remi and looking forward to infusion #5 at the end of this month. My wife and I spent weeks debating surgery or Remi; I've had too many surgeries to count so we opted with Remi. Yes, scary side effects, but if you know your body and follow your Dr's instructions you should be just fine
