Hello I was wondering if anyOne has experienced hairless with remicade and if anything you tried was successful in dealing with it. I am a 26 year old male use to have thick hair.
Thanks
I had experienced hair loss when I was first on Remi due to the high dose of Pred that accompanied it. For the first four infusions I would receive a high dose of liquid Pred along with my infusion. Talk to your doc about possibly lowering your Pred dose if your on it. Vitamin D has also helped my hair get back to normal, recommended by my doc.
My hair loss wasn't due to Remicade but Aza (I think!). I have since stopped this particular med and started taking 5000 mcg of Biotin with great success.
I know it doesn't help everybody but you might want to give it a shot.
I have been on remicade for about 5 years now and my fine hair is getting finer! I am not on other meds so just wondering about the benefits of biotin and the dosage. Any advice?
does anyone know of a good shampoo? ive been on infliximab for 3 months and my hair is coming out in handfuls. It has done this on and off before i was diagnosed and on pred but never this bad. Im female if that makes any difference
I too have been experiencing significant hair loss and hope it will stop at some point. My physician says the loss is from the severity of my illness and it will get better at some point. I informed her that I had seen on-line that many like me on Remicade suffer from hair loss- I find it funny that I cannot find it listed anywhere in a side effect..... I have only been on it since January and will be on it indefinitley. Does this get better???? Or am I going to lose all of my hair? Help!
Ive been on remicade since mid feb 2012 and i have about a quarter of the hair left. Its awful quality too and feels like straw. Im getting so despondant about it. Im goingt o get some biotin and vit D but have to be careful what i take as im also doing ivf.
Someone please reassure me this loss will stop before im completely bold?
I know exactly how you feel. I have very little left and what I do have feels like straw. I have been contemplating speaking again with my physician about a possible med change but at the same time whose to say another med won't do the same thing? Discouraged does not even begin to describe how I feel. Hang in there! Know that there are those out there who share in your pain!
I took biotin 2mg day, and also use Jason Biotin shampoo.
My hairdresser says my hair is in better shape than ever, very good condition.
It has taken a couple of years though but it is now quite thick again after becoming extremely thin and patchy.
I also rinse with lemon or apple cider vinegar about 4 tablespoons added to a two cups of water , for final rinse.
Eggs are a rich source of biotin too, if you are able to eat them.
