Hi everyone,

I previously wrote on here asking if anyone had major joint problems 4-5 weeks after receiving their infliximab infusions. Turns out my doctor looked into it and the symptoms I was having where due to 'drug induced lupus' I had been on infliximab for 8 years and since they found out my reaction was drug induced lupus they immediately stop my infusion. I am now to start Humira, something I'm not 100% sure on? They told me it's the new thing they are using when patients stop reacting to infliximab. Has anyone else gone from infliximab to humira ? How did you find it? The self injecting does freak me out a little but I'm sure I'll get use to it. On the positive note I'm looking forward to not having to go to hospital for infliximab infusions. Just wondering if people cAn give me some feedback on This drug. I'm also taking azathiprine, doctors did not mention if I was to stay on it or not, but will ask at my appointment. I'm going in next Wednesday for my 4 injections!! eeeep, little nervous!

also has anyone been pregnant or fallen pregnant on humira ? My partner and I are wanting to start a family shortly and wondering if anyone has feedback on pregnancy while taking humira ? Have re searched it and few people say you can not be on it while trying to conceive or pregnant while others say their doctors recommended them to be on It as it's the saftest option?? I'll also be asking my doctor but thought id add it in to see of anyone can give me feedback.

Thank you :)

Meg,

I can't answer all your questions but I do know that infliximab is made with animal components and Humira is made with human components.

Best of Luck!!

I had my choice which to try and I chose Humira for that very reason. It's early on but I am already seeing positive results after only 1 month!

I was on remicade for about five years and I have been on Humira for about 3-4. The shots are so easy!!! I loved Humira over Remicade. They are both TNF blockers. When I was on Remicade, I hated taking time out of my day/week to go get infusions. They often left me tired and grouchy. Humira takes just thirty seconds and I feel no lasting side effects. I hope it works for you. It helped me for many years. Like the Remicade, the Humira has stopped being effective and I am now being switched to Cimzia (another TNF blocker).

I have not been pregnant on any of these medications, but as a young adult female (26) I have asked and researched it. Recently, my grandmother went to a Crohn's (CCFA) conference. She attended a section called "Girls and Guts". It was all about pregnancy with Crohn's. I have always heard that these medications do not cause complications with pregnancies. However, I would talk to your OBGYN and your Gastro. for advice and risks.

Which is likely why Remicade causes a lot more side effects.

I was on Humira for several months before getting my ostomy. The shots hurt a lot for me, but some people don't feel a thing. It's been a highly beneficial drug for many people, so I wish anyone who's on it the best of luck.

Thanks so much for the feedback! makes me feel better knowing you are also all on it or have previously been on it.

I was meant to have one on one with doctor yesterday for the 4 shots but unfortunately the script did not arrive so it's been put off until next week.

We are very lucky to have such wonderful drugs to help us! Thanks again to everyone. I'm excited but nervous to start humira.
