My son has been on Remicade and oral methotrexate for one year. He had his infusion this morning and has been complaining of substantial leg pain for the last four hours or so. It hurts from the knees to the ankles, and in the front and back of the legs. My son also looks flushed, but has no fever. He had a mild headache, but said that seems to be gone now. I did a little reading on the forum and Dr. Google. I'm getting everything from a mild, and common side effect, to this being an indication that antibodies are developing and I need to contact the dr immediately. I have given my son Tylenol and a heating pad, and he's lying on the couch with his legs elevated a bit. I hate to make a nuisance call to the dr, but obviously will call if it's warranted. So, here I am making myself a nuisance to all of you! Any thoughts? Also, tonight my son should be taking his MTX. Should I wait until tomorrow night?
Note: a few things were different with today's infusion-it was the first time at an infusion clinic, so there was no exam by a dr. Also, my husband took my son for the first time, so I wasn't there. Usually we just come home after the infusion to rest, but it was such a lovely day, we took a walk and got an ice cream cone. Perhaps one or more of these things is making an impact, I don't know.
