Reading,
I was wondering if anyone knows of any research going on that we can be involved in such as questionnaires. Obviously there are many things about Crohn's that we still do not understand and surely by studying us, they can find some answers. It is something that i would very much like to take part in.
Also another question that i have only just thought of,does anyone know why is it called Crohn's Disease?

I'm not sure of any ongoing research that we can be involved in but there is a project that a few people that frequent this forum are going to be involved in writing and you may be interested in getting involved with that.

As for the name, usually when a disease is discovered the researcher or doctor etc. sometimes names the disease after him/herself as kind of a "hey look at what i discovered" type thing.

Taken straight from wikipedia:

The disease was independently described in 1904 by Polish surgeon Antoni Leśniowski and in 1932 by American gastroenterologist Burrill Bernard Crohn, for whom the disease was named. Crohn, along with two colleagues, described a series of patients with inflammation of the terminal ileum, the area most commonly affected by the illness.[9] For this reason, the disease has also been called regional ileitis[9] or regional enteritis.

LMV... have you been in touch with NACC in the UK? It's the National Association for Crohns and Colitis... I think it's something like nacc.org

They've got loads of fact sheets about every aspect of crohns, which you can download or view on line. If you join, you get newsletters with all the latest news on research and stuff, and there will also be a local branch, if you want to actually meet fellow sufferers or fund raise

You will also get the famous "I can't wait" card, in case you get stuck at the end of a queue for the toilet and you're desperate

It's all worth a look if you sdon't know about it already

I am a member of the NACC yes, but I havnt rly had a good look at the website. I will do that thanks :)
And I thought that the name would be something to do with something like that aswell!

Let me know if you find anything, valentine, that enables us folk to help. in the US, there's the CCFA (www.ccfa.org) that has tons of info.

the (I Can't Wait Card) is awesome. you should get one.

The only stuff I have seen so far is the sciency stuff scientists have been doing in labs, not the kinda participant involved sort of research. I know recently the NACC have done/are doing something about smoking in familys of patients with IBD, which doesnt apply to me as neither of my parents smoke.
