Has anyone been treated with this? My gastro is considering it for me just wondered if anyone had any experience with it. I believe it is expensive, according to nhs data here in the u.k it costs around £15.15 for a 3 day course in comparison to ciprofloxacin which costs £0.58 for 3 days. This is probably not commonly prescribed even though studies have produced good results.

It's not available here but Ive read good things about it, mainly that the side effects are limited due to it's localize action in the guts. You can look up Xifaxan in case it brings you more information.

I'm on it right now actually. I don't know what to think of it, but I have heard studies saying it is good for IBS-D and sometimes IBS-C (which I have IBS-C). Also, there is one study (but only one) that indicates it can also help Celiac patients. Antibiotics and Celiac Disease do not go together and I do have Celiac Disease. I'll see how it goes. At this point, I'm pretty desperate for an answer myself.
