Doc had previously said we needed to consider imuran or a biologic as we could only get the bleeding stopped by keeping me at 40mg prednisone.
However, upon learning I still had the urgency, d, cramping, pain, etc even on the pred, he suddenly decided that the bleed may be from ulceration at the rectum while the other symptoms are from the colon. Now he says lets do a month more on the asacol HD (been on that since june with no change) and taper the pred while adding the rowasa enemas. Now, i can see the point of the enemas , targetted to the likely location of the bleed since that makes sense, and I'm glad to start weaning off the prednisone. But, if asacol HD hasn't made a difference in the other symptoms since June even with the steroids, am I wrong in thinking its not likely to suddenly start now? The other thing that bothers me is that he kept saying the enemas are steroids but everything I read says they're mesalamine like the asacol rather than a steroid?
So confused and docs unfortunately wasn't much help
