hey guys,

i was recently diagnosed with mild CD on adsending colon and rectum and my specialist recommended salazopryn which gave me a really bad headache for 2-3 days and i stopped taking it.Now the same doctor recommended mesalazine as replacement

What is the side effect of mesalazine and is it the true that mesalazine doesn't work for CD at all.I addressed this to the doctor however he said its only a rumors.

thanks

I took Salazopyrin for ten years and had ten years remission. I was only taken off it as they thought it was causing me to be neutropenic (it wasn't ... but that's another story)

I was then put on Mesesal - another ten fantastic years of remission. It was less effective the last three years though - had mouth ulcers a lot.
Then had a major flare in response to a very stressful situation - there was no going back unfortunately.

I'm now on Humira, and really wish I could go back to taking either of these drugs. I hope they work for you.
