Hey All,

My 2 year stint with no pred has now come to an end. After about a month of battling with severe fatigue and unexpected asspolsions I went to the doctor and he put me on what is to be a short course of prednisone (30 days) and asacol. I have to admit that I do feel better in that I have more energy, have not vomitted and have experienced almost no pain now that the medications have started working in my body.

Sort of an unexpected twist is that instead of having to 'go' all the time... I can't go at all. As a matter of fact... 3 times in 15 days which is not comfortable. I took a laxative a few days ago because I couldn't stand it anymore which eased matters but no more luck the natural way afterward. Another concern is that I think I am getting some sort of anal fissure which I have never had. Can anyone enlighten me about what that afun is all about?

Thanks a bundle,

Brandi

ive had anal fissures, skin tags, and chronic constipation for god knows how long. All i can offer you for help is you need to exercise more, eat a lot of foods with fiber, and create a diet without constipating foods such as too much bread, dairy, etc.

also make sure to get a daily vitamin supplement and maybe even have olive oil with everything you eat (what i do, and it works)

For constipation I also advise taking magnesium . it is a mild laxative. Also drink lots of water

Thats what I suffer with. Eat about 4 ounces of meat to keep up protein, and try cutting the carbs to low but still a little bit, finally up all fruits and vegetables to a lot. I eat an apple, pineapple, peas, couliflower, broccoli-steamed(always steam vegetables that are gassy). Try your own though but avoid bananas because they constipate you. Also apple juice makes you go as well. Try to excercise although I know exactly how it feels to be unmotivated to even move at times.

Good luck

That could be it... I was previously on a low fiber low residue diet as not to irritate anything inside. I think I will try the high fiber route and see where that gets me since the other symptoms seem to be subsiding with the medication.

Thanks everyone
