My mom has suffered with crohns for 30 plus years now... After a dozen or so surgical procedures she is now left with about 2 ft bowel and has a RAGING abscess caused from fistula leaving her septic. She is now in iCU with a CPAP mask, BP anywhere from 75-80/50 iah, as a result of the infection. Hospital is saying there's not much to do other than treat infection and then keep changing the pads of EXCESSIVE drainage over her abdomen where it spews from! Can this really be only option?! No surgical measures? She's 64 and I am her only child and I'm not ready to have this lady who has given every stitch of her being for me die because the hospital she is at is not equipped for such a patient. I'm scared, no one has any answers, each Dr. has another opinion, but no one is bringing anything substantial to the table... Ideas? Please?
