So did they take the day or two before the scopes?
I'm just think I don't want to send him to school if he's going to be on the potty the whole time. But then I again I have NO idea how he'll handle the clean out.
Only the day before here because two days before just started eating differently...forget the exact specifics but didn't start the real misery until the day before.
The first time my younger son took two days off but my oldest son just took the day before. Both of them reacted differently. I would take the two days.
Again good luck
But then again....he is young and won't be missing much so what is the harm in taking the two days...except less mommy alone time and you will have to cancel your nail appointment and lunch and shopping date :rof:
The GI office told us no school the day of the clean out, and they were right!! Mostly my son felt terrible because he couldn't eat. He was so hungry and just laid in bed all day.

Only city slickers get their nails done.:voodoo:
Country folk are to busy working to waste money on things like that.
But ya did remind me to get me knife and do some trimming to these nails.
Definitely no school for the clean out. That can be a miserable process. Our GI doesn't allow school the day following scopes either. He prefers her to be home under close supervision and resting.
They both went to school the day of the clean out, they were on liquid diet all day and had the prep after school. But they are older kids. Had the day off after scope.
Oh and if scope location is far away don't forget the pull ups! Or portable potty. Of course us city slickers just check into a hotel near hospital:ytongue:
All my scopes were done out of town (GI was 4 hours away). Sometimes we were already in my GI's area and I did the prep there (clearly no school that day) or sometimes I prepped at home and we drove up the next day if my scope was later in the day (so I would go to school on prep day but the prep itself doesn't begin until 6:00pm). Never had school the following day due to diarrhea and some pain from the scope (plus we had to travel back, sometimes we left the day I had the scope and other times it was the following day when we left).
J having scopes on Tuesday, he is admitted on Monday due to distance and prep. Then scope Tues, then recover Wed, fingers crossed back to school Thurs, so it'll be 3 days off for us!
Mean mommy here: my kids go to school on prep day for at least 1/2 day (i.e. until the "real" prep starts). It is hard mostly b/c of being on a liquid diet. Until the meds start, no reason to stay home. Goodness knows, my kids do that enough from their Crohn's....
I ended up hiding Jae's miralax/gatorade mixture in ginger ale, which she loves, to get her to drink it... She only got half down but she was clean as a whistle! Toward the end she asked me if I was putting the miralax in the ginger ale because she kept have to keep going to the bathroom, but she drank it well
