Hellol everyone,

I have had numerous abscess since 2007. They have all turned into fistulas because of my crohns.
I have just this week under gone surgery and had 3 setons put in.

My question is. If and when these fistulas heal will they not come back? The doctor told me the leak i have is coming from my bowel. Surely closing one end ( my fistulas on my backside) will still leave the leakage from my bowel, meaning i will just get a new abcsess over time? Or is there surgery to stop the leak on the bowel or medication?

Im sorry if im being daft and there is an easy explanation to this and i make no sense but im confused.

Unfortunately they aren't easy to treat and unless the fistula completely closes it can re-open and get infected. The best thing you can do is keep the area clean ie: sitz baths and medication like Remicade is probably the strongest you can be on in terms of fighting the fistulas.

Thanks for the reply i have been looking through information online. Im due back in 6 weeks and will ask about this medication and if they think i can try it. I am certainly best friends with my bathroom at the minute. Everything seems to be making me go to the bathroom and i am resting and cleaning constantly. Thanks for the advice again.

since my operation i have not been feeling very well. I mean ive had a fussy head and feel light headed a lot. Concentration is poor dizzy spells is this normal? seeing spots head feels heavy? its probably normal but i just dont feel right if this makes sense? My mum says it could be the antibiotics im taking or that my crohns disease is making me feel unwell because of the operation?
