Hey all.

I'm so happy I found this forum.

Okay, I've been feeling quite unwell with my digestive system since I was quite a lot younger. - I'm 19 now.

Yet, since the middle of last year onwards I have been feeling really ill. The past 6 months have been the worst.

I have experienced:
- Diarrhea (having to go to the bathroom 10+ a day)
- Weightloss. I've always been quite thin, but I eat a lot. I haven't really been in the mood to eat, but I haven't been trying to lose weight at all.
- My stools have been a weird black'ish colour, and smell horrible!
- I have been experiencing abdominal cramps almost all the time, and I often wake up to go to the bathroom, or from the pain.
- I get really bad mouth ulcers. I've been putting this special ointment on the sores, but I often get up to 5 at a time.
- I also have a fever sometimes if I'm really sick.

Anyway, I went to see my GP back in August. The Doctor said it was IBS and suggested I take something herbal and use over the counter medication to treat symptoms. This really didn't help and I kept going back to the Dr. He eventually referred to a Gastroenterologist for a Colonoscopy/Endoscopy. Anyway, both of these tests came back negative, which minor haemmoroids. I keep returning to my GP, because I can never get an appointment with the Gi. The GP told me I have mesenteric adonitis, which refers to inflammed lymph nodes in the abdominal region.

I am getting quite frustrated because I'm just not getting better. Being 19, I want to go out and have fun, but obviously having diarrhea etc. is making things quite uncomfortable.

I just want to get better!

Have you had a stool sample run? It may be c-diff and should be looked into. Having diarreah that smells rancid makes me think you have c-diff which is a severe infection.

Mouth ulcers can be related to the type of toothpaste you use, how harsh you brush your teeth ect. It's possible it's related but also may not be. Being that your colonoscopy and endoscopy came up negative it can and probably will be rather hard to get a second lookover especially without any further red flag symptoms. A lot of times your scopes need to show inflammation, cobblestoning and some sort of damage to your intestinal lining in order to be considered to have IBD. Often the inflammation needs to go from acute(quick onset) to crohnic to be considered IBD. You should ask to see a new GI and get a stool sample done and bloodwork ran. Good luck

Hi ... Sorry you feel so bad and have no help yet. My son is in the same boat. (But his GI is understanding and feels bad that he has a mystery illness) Do you know what test made your GP say it was mesenteric adonitis? (I think my son has this as his MRE showed multiple enlarged lymph nodes in his lower right quadrant ... but since he is only 14 .. it could also be considered normal) Have you had the Prometheus IBD 7 blood test? (Some doctors use this to help with their diagnosis)
