I have had an RV fistula for five years. I've had a temp ileostomy and then decided to make it permanent last year but the fistula hasn't healed even though I had a total proctocolectomy. I haven't had any success with medications to date. I've tried Humira for two years but didn't absorb it well and Remicade gave me lupus. I've got an application in for Stelara and hoping to start that soon.
My question - I've started dating someone and we are taking it very slow. I was really scared to tell him about my bag but he has said he doesn't care. I'm lucky that I don't have any pain but I do have discharge from the fistula. Even though we will use protection, I don't know whether it is infectious.
Has anyone else dealt with this? If so, any tips
