I had a tooth pulled 1 week ago and was taking amoxicillan, 4 aday, 500mg and 4th day had sharp cramps all nightlong that come and go. Had no d. I stoped the pills andhope my tooth was not or getting infected. Its still slightly sore. I was just wanting to know if anyone has had cramps with no d. Also do you think it was the pills. Since dx, this was the worst cramps i've had. Also when you get antibiotics intravenously, does it bother the stomach.

Hi Matty. I am having that same problem. I am on antibiotics (Cephalexan) because a strep infection hit our house. I developed a penicillin allergy when I was a young adult, so they always find an alternative antibiotic. It doesn't matter what antibiotic I'm taking now, I always seem to get cramping either with or without the diarrhea. I'm currently having the cramping pains. Cephalexan (Keflex) isn't too bad. I can handle Biaxin and Z-Pack. Erythromycin is horrible. I refuse to take that. That causes horrible cramping, nausea, and stomach upsets. It can really tear up a normal person's stomach. Are you taking probiotics or yougurt? That might help to restore the good flora in you gut.

I am on Cipro for an infection and FYI per my pharmacist, you can NOT take any type of dairy while on this medication including yogurt until you are done with it.

Thanks for that info. It's best to check to see if you can have dairy. On some antibiotics it is okay. I hope I didn't give you bad information.

thanks for replies. Yes i was taking 2 probiotics after 1 pill(2 hrs) and 1 yougurt a day. I took this antibiotic lots of times and was okay. Today had alot of d in 1 sitting. Seeing dentist tomorrow because tooth is a bit redder and still some yellowish and brown stuff in tooth socket. Its been 8 days since extraction. I hope its not infected because i can't take antibiotics right now. I don't know what i'm going to do if it is infected. I update tomorrow.
