Can anyone help me with this please. It's right where my left lung is.
I'm not sure whether it's cos I was grabbed from behind by a very large lad in school on Friday. It didn't hurt at all at the time.
But when I woke up on Saturday it did!
Ok, it hurts when I move, stretch, bend or turn to the right, it hurts if I try to wipe my bum too! and that's not funny ya know!
It hurts when I deep breathe in and cough. It doesn't hurt if I keep still tho.
But the worst pain, and I mean agonising pain, is when I burp!!?? And no, it doesn't ease after burping.
I've looked online, some theories are GERD, acid reflux and indigestion? But I haven't got heartburn, belly ache, spasms or anything?
Have I pulled a muscle?
Gonna try a hot bath, see if that eases it.
Thanks

Hi Joan,

not sure what that could be, hopefully just a pulled muscle rather than anything too nasty, did you maybe sleep in a funny position?!

Hopefully a nice warm bath will help!

Sounds like a pulled muscle to me....if the hot bath doesn't help try ice on it for a bit and see if that helps.

Could it be a kidney stone?
Hope the warm bath helps, try putting some epsom salts in the bath water, it can help relax.
Failing that , better go to casualty.
Be better soon
Hugs

Joan, it really does sound like a pulled muscle. Hope that hot bath helped? Volterol would come in handy to rub on it.

Hope it's all better now!

It does sound like you've pulled a muscle, and they tend to start hurting a number of hours after you've actually pulled it which would explain why you didn't feel anything immediately. Try a hot bath and I don't know if you've got any 'deep heat' but that should ease some of the pain as well. Take it easy this evening and the next few days so it's able to heal quicker. All the best :)

Joan, I hope you made that incident report... I think it is too much of a coincidence that you didnt pull, strain or hurt something. Most times it isnt that day, it is the nxt when you feel the pain more. You may need a muscle relaxant... I have had Kidney stones and I dont have those symptoms.

I told ya you are gonna pay... love ya anyways.

Keep us posted.

Ok it is thanksgiving here and most Canadians know the KEG is the place to go, drop me a line...getting ready for dinner. Hugs!

Thanks everyone!

Felt really good in the bath, but still got the pain!
I've applied Ibugel to it, see if that works.
I will rest and if it persists, I'll go to my GP
Kidney stones? Better get Googling!
lotsa luv

If it is ok when you are still but worse with twisting it is likely a pulled muscle. That is assuming you have no temp, shortness of breath, cough, discoloured sputum, leg swelling. Does it hurt when you press on the sore area- if so again prob muscular.

If no to above try a massage, gentle stretches, ibuleve, heat pad. I know you are off painkillers but a couple of paracetamol would probably help a little.

Thanks littlemiss

I am very well, no temp etc, and yes it does hurt when I press that area.
It doesn't hurt when I'm still so it's probably a pulled muscle!
I've took some paracetamol too, even tho I'm not supposed to be taking any painkillers! Oh well.
Hope you're doing ok?

Sounds like you have pulled something there. Pulled muscles are usually at there worst two days after the event so hopefully the pain will now start to ease off a bit. Hope you get your own back on the lad who has caused you all this pain :)

bypass the gp and get to a good physio!!! needs a good 'hands on' treatment, massage mobilisation etc (not that i'm baised) but make sure their decent... don't let it drag on your rib could be slightly displaced and just needs put back in it's place and is easily fixed... goodluck

Thanks Sandy
Not sure how I'm gonna get my own back on him tho, he's an autistic student of mine!
Just all part n parcel of the job!

Oh I see, (oops) oh well looks like your doing the right thing hot baths etc. and as archie has now suggested maybe some massage would help sort you out but I'm thinking if sore to touch gently stretching may be better after muscle is warm.

Hi Joan,

This is Karen from facebook (I messaged you recently). I hope you are feeling better by the time you read this. Keep an eye on the pain though, I started with the clots on my lungs in a similar way. I don't want to worry you, but the pain was excrucitating when I tried to breathe in. I know clots are another symptom of good old crohns! Can you test your pulse? My pulse was really fast as well, over 120.

I hope it is nothing serious, look after yourself,

Love Kaz xxx :rosette2:

Thanks Archie
That's a great idea, I have physio at Occy Health, so if it doesn't improve, I'll phone them

Hiya Joan,

I'm sure it won't be, I wouldn't have been able to have a bath the pain was that bad. I just thought it is something to keep in mind. (The treatment is not too bad if it is)

Keep us posted,

Love Kaz xxx

Joan, I have similar symptoms when my hiatal hernia acts up, which is not often. Last time was after a EGD. Hope you feel better soon!

Hey Joan, just checking in to say that I hope you find some good relief soon. Take care.

Hey Joan
Hope you're feeling better soon, I had similar but it came outta nowhere, had it months before I plucked up courage to get checked out and pain had spread from back to shoulder then breast, was beside myself, sent for x-rays, had breast check and it was all clear to find pulled muscle from carrying my slightly over weight baby, (sorry baby) but while on a visit to physio for baby's leg I mentioned and she gave me two easy stretches (arms over head to front and then down by sides and it went within weeks.

Good luck and hopes it clears soon

Thanks everybody!

I spoke to our PE teacher at school, he said it's intercostal muscle strain, the muscle around the rib, very painful, but very common!
Easy done, easily sheared, easily healed!
I've used ice and took ibuprofen, naughty I know, but needs must.
And I feel much better, still got it, but not half as bad!
I didn't realise that you use your ribs to burp!

Twas a pleasure. Glad you're feeling better.

I won't go into how I am ...crohns a nightmare so too much of a pity trip ATM!! Spending all my time at the hospital treatment unit or struggling on at work.
I'm thinking of signing up for a course into how to be an effective vampire- then I can go round sucking good looking mens necks and cut down on hospital trips. Problem is finding a local educational centre that runs a course!!
I might have to settle for a live male Adonis art course!
