Short bowel syndrome (nocturnal dirreahea)

Hi everyone

I have a question to anyone who as short bowel syndrome. I have 1.3 metres of small bowel and i also suffer from ulcerative colitis. I have a problem with nocturnal diarrhoea, I only seem to get up once in the night and if I don't wake because of it then I'm very tired through the night because I havnt slept well. Does anyone else have the same problem? I try to eat early to see if it helps but I can get hungry before I go go bed. I can something as small as a bag of crisp and I will still need to use the toilet through the night. Thanks for your time :smile:

Hi There! I had my whole colon removed, and I am dealing with that issue right now. Unfortunately, I am going 5-7 times a night, and it is crazy-making. I find that sometimes I fall asleep while on the toilet I am that tired. I am on mega doses of everything that could stop me up ~ fiber, paregoric, lomotil, cholestyramine. Nothing seems to be working. I have just added L-Glutamine, which seems like it might be helping? It is very discouraging however.
