Should I give Humira a Shot?

My crohn's has been really bad lately.
Both my parents and my GI doctor are leaning towards Humira.
I'm just wondering if it's really worth it.
Some people tell me that they had a blood curdling scream for the first few tries of using it, but others say it hurts no more than a crohn's flare. Others say that it's not that bad but it's still not worth it.
Who should I believe?
How bad is the pain?
What are the best tricks to decrease the pain?
Are there some important things I should know before I try the Humira?

I'd say give it a try, anything that has a chance of helping you out sounds worth it to me. Use some numbing cream and ice it 30 minutes before the shot, sometimes icing it makes it hurt more, sometimes it makes it hurt less, a lot of it is personal preference. I hope you get it under control!

I would not think about the pain in advance. Everyone experiences the pain in a different intensity, I did not feel much and I did not use ice or anything. When I have to make decisions I always think about what could happen in the worst case and what could be the best result and then look on the probability of the two events. It is much more likely that Humira can help us than having all of the really bad side effects just right after the beginning. Most of the people I know who are on Humira have no side effects, as it is for most of the biologicals (that's just the people I know in person, so that's maybe not representative).
If you trust your doctor and he thinks that could be an option for you, I would try it. You will never know when you never try, right?
It's your decision.

DS has been on humira for 2.5 years
He stated it at age 9 and now is almost 12.
The med burns going in but for a total of 10 seconds if that
We add lidocaine to the humira syringe to help with that for DS but he is a little kid
No side effects
Clean scopes and joint pain is under control
