Hi everyone!
I am so pleased to have finally found somewhere with so much support!
I have been diagnosed for 4 years, and up until January, even though I've had times when I've not been that well, I had been very lucky to avoid hospital...but how things change!
I'd not been feeling great for a couple of months before christmas, I had had 2 short courses of Pred over christmas/new year.
A day into the new year I was at work, vomitting, doubled up in pain and unable to drive home. I got to see a GP that night who said I had a water infection and gave me 3 days of anti biotics, by day 2 I was admitted to hospital with suspected apendicitus!?!
The day after the surgery team had decided it was my Crohn's playing up after all and they would need to operate, I was there for 6 days with different tests and by the day I was sent home they had told me that they wouldn't need to operate this time round but would need to review it. My Gastro consultant has reviewed it this week and they still want to, I don't know what to do. I have to see a surgeon in 4 weeks.
It's at the illeum, i'm on a reducing dose of Pred (3 a day from tomorrow) and have been on Asa and Pentasa since diagnosis. I got myself reffered to a dietician and I'm just starting the LOFFLEX diet.
I suppose I'd like to know if it's a good thing to have a piece taken out? How likely would it be to need more surgery in the future? Is it the start of a slippery slope? Help!!!!
I'd love to hear what you think!
