I am scheduled to bring my son in tomorrow morning to get an inflammatory bowel blood panel done along with another SED rate and CRP. The last 2 were normal back in July. He has a small nose cold that started yesterday. Should I wait? Will the test show inflammation because of the cold?

Thanks.

Better to get the tests done. We're always fighting something or other so unless the blood draw will be dangerous just go for it.

Will the GI still do the bloods? Make sure he/she knows in advance. I wouldn't think it's uncommon.

I wouldn't wait. The chances of a slight cold affecting the numbers would be very slim but just get them to make a note of it.

Matt recently had bloods drawn for inflammatory markers and he had a cold, when we got the results the numbers were fine.

The doctor did not want him to get them done until he was over the cold for a week. At this point, we will probably just wait until his colonoscopy since we could do it this Wednesday which is only 6 days before the colonoscopy.

Since his case is a little unusual, I think she really wants to be able to trust the results.

Thanks for all of your input!
