sickness...help please!

Hello,

I've been feeling really nauseous for the past week but today I've been sick 4 times, practically every time i eat anything it comes straight back up :-(

the thing i'm worried about is taking my medication (on aza, entocort and pentesa). If i'm sick after i've taken them should i take them again or would that end up with me doubling my dose of everything?

thinking about it i've only started to feel/get sick since I tapered from 3 tablets a day to 2 with the enteocort...would this maybe cause the sickness?

Any advice would be most appreciated :)

Thanks,

Rachel x

check with your doc on dosages and your problem. You may be getting flu or having a side effect from your meds. Perhaps trying a little ginger tea will help your queasy stomach? Cut a small piece of ginger and place in teapot or cup and put in hot water. Sip slowly. You should feel almost immediate relief. Hoep you feel better!

hello,

i posted this last week but have continued to be sick.

I'm not sick constantly or anything but seem to do it at least twice a day, usually after eating.

do you think this could be a sign of a partial blockage or anything?

i've been on all my meds for at least 4 months now so don't think it's side effects as its only happened recently.

i'm seeing my doc on the 9th and can always phone my IBD nurse tomorrow but just wanted some advice.

Thank you :) x

Hi, definitely phone the nurse tomorrow. I recently had this problem and have put this down to a big flare up I am having - how are your other symptoms? I am on the pred at the moment which has helped so the sickness has gone but I still find I can get bad indegestion. Are you experiencing issues with this? It could be acid reflux after you eat which is bringing everything back up.

Hi Angrybird,

my other symptoms are pretty much the same as usual, pain on the lower right side that gets worse during/after eating.

the only other thing is when I poop (hehe) I never feel like I get it all out and it's only really small bits at a time.

x

Sounds like you have a bit of a blockage there. A bit, but enough to cause alot of problems. Go on liquid only for now. Can you tolerate liquid? And get in ASAP. Dont try to eat anymore for the time being. Try to lay on your right hand side to help the bowels to pass more. Do you have a fever?

If you cannot tolerate liquids, you need to be seen in the A&E right away sweetheart.

Hiya, this needs looking into. One thought process could be a bit of a blockage - food cannot get through easily hence the pain, sickness and the feeling that it's not all coming out. What little goes through then creates the small poops - I call then winnets :) Get on the phone first thing tomorrow and don't let them put you off until you see the doc on the 9th.

Hello,

I don't have a fever or anything at the moment but think I will give liquids a go then for the time being. They did mention that I might have a narrowing but just waiting for my MRI results at the moment to confirm.

If it gets worse I'll defo drag my arse down to A&E though! x

Try the Bikram "wind removing post" - (google online). It will help you move things along, naturally; if it is not doing so by itself. Helps massage the ascending and descending colon and remove any trapped air (no, you will not toot) and move things along. Works quite well. Only takes 2 minutes and works like a charm. Feel better!

Hiya Rachel

People on here know I bang on about vomiting all the time!
This is cos I need to warn others of the seriousness of it, do not ignore vomiting.
I did ignore mine and nearly died as a result, I was minutes off rupturing. My GP got me an ambulance and saved my life, I had peritonitis setting in.
Anyway, I'm all better now, Pred saved my life.
My symptoms - pain in lower right, lower right back pain, no BMs for 5 days, no fever, THEN - projectile vomiting, uncontrollable explosive diarrhea.
My consultant told me never ever ignore vomiting, no matter what.
So, get to A&E or phone an ambulance, tell them you've got an IBD.
Let us know how you get on

Hi Joan,

I called NHS direct yesterday and they managed to get me some anti sickness tablets (which have not made much of a difference!) but spoke to my IBD nurse today and although concerned she is not overly worried as I'm still having BMs so am not completely blocked I guess...

She did say though that if I get more pains / more sick / symptoms worsen to get to A&E quick quick!

Rachel xx

Right, surely though she will be speaking to your GI doc about what needs to be done to get this sorted. I would have thought they need to look at your meds?? She hasn't just left it at that has she?

well she was thinking of getting me in this week buuuut I already have an appointment next Monday and they are waiting for my recent MRI results which are apparently not in yet so she said that if I come in early and they don't have my results then it's a bit pointless....

blood test from last Friday shows my CRP is back up to 35 so I guess that explains the sickness / sleeping / general death feeling at the moment....

argh, frustrating :-(

x

Phew, glad you have an appt coming up, I was ready to get my angry hat on. Exactly how long ago was the MRI? Not sure why these things seem to take so long, if they do not have the results on Monday kick up a stink until they them whilst you wait, you really need to be able to come away from the appt with all the info and a plan of action.

Thank goodness you have that appt on Monday. As for the MRI results, everything takes forever this time of year doesnt it? Grrrr.

Just want you well!! Have they checked all your vitamin levels as well, like D and magnesium, B12, folate...all that stuff?

hehe yeah sorry should have explained more on my post!

I had the MRI on the 20th Dec...just a bit worried as it took them about two months to let me know my colonoscopy results before so I've got my fingers crossed they'll have the results by Monday otherwise I might just sob in the waiting room.... x

Hi Misty,

havnt had my b12 checked in a while but every time I do they always say it's normal.
Think I might ask them to do a check of everything again though when I go Monday! x

Be stubborn, do not leave until you are happy with what they have told you and what they plan to do. I second Misty's query about your vitamin levels. Will keep my fingers crossed and let us know how you get on.

Are you or did you recently consuming cookies, candies and sugars? Sometimes "nuggets" are a result of eating refined sugars and can have a hard time moving down the pipeline, thus creating the nuggets and "not done" feeling. Try to eliminate those out of your diet and that should help.

Feel better soon!

Hi Mickey,

I've had a couple of biscuits recently but nothing major, was quite restrained over Christmas.

Thanks though and for suggesting that bikram pose, I'll have to give that a go! x

Hi guys,

quick update, just got back from my appointment, they think i had a partial blockage that was causing the sickness. Nothing major to report on the MRI just that its mainly my small bowl that is inflamed and the doc thinks it looks like its stuck together a lot from inflammation/scar tissue.

Got to start infliximab (spelling?!) in the next few weeks hopefully. Bit scared but hopeful it will help...:)

xx

Thanks for the update, I am pleased that you have more info about what is going on and that a plan of action is now in place. Fingers crossed the infliximab does the job :)
