Hey guys

so i started Humira about 2-3 weeks ago now (my first injection) and wow did it hurt. All those people saying it dosn't hurt much.. it does :( But maybe thats because i have no fat on my body lol. Anyways, nothing has changed yet, i still have all the same symptoms as before - and i just wanted to ask about a few side effects i think im having.

One of them is like blurred vision, when i look around it keeps going very blurry, and its not just my eyesight, as i haven't really felt like this before. err yeah, so if anybody has had that or knows why please let me know :3

Also, my hands go extremely dry when im in the shower. I know like, when your in the shower for like 10 mins your hands always start to do the thing where it drys up, but it happens for me when ive been in the shower for about 5 mins and i come out and my whole hand is white and flakey. My hands are also very achey and i think slightly swollen, although not swollen enough to say that they are definately.

If anybody could help me out with those 2 things i'd appreciate it :0

And thanks!

Hello,

I haven't been on humira now for over a year so can't remember the list of side affects. Have you looked at the humira website to see if there is any info on there?
I only ever had blurred vision before I was diagnosed but very sick and before I had any treatment for crohns disease. Sometime it can be hard to tell what is caused by a drug or just another EIM from the disease.
I remember the injections used to really vary how much they hurt each time and where I injected. I always did it in my stomach never brave enough to try in my thighs. Where do you inject at the moment? Maybe try a different area see if it helps. Just remembered about not wanting to sit up straight after the injection because the area would feel to tender.
If you continue to get strange symptoms see your dr especially the blurred vision. Hope you start to feel better soon x

A tip is to take the injection out of the fridge for 20 mins and ice the injection site for 20 mins before the injection. Reduced the pain of cold fluid going into warm skin

i asked about side effects thoughh not really anything to do with thiss

Page 2 of the medication guide under side effects for Humira specifically states "Nervous System Problems: Signs and symptoms of a nervous system problem include; numbness or tingling, problems with your vision, weakness in your arms or legs, and dizziness"

I would say do as the sheet says and call your doctor to report this as a side effect you are having.

Humira can cause neurological side effects. I have been on Remicade, humira, and cimzia over the last 9 years. I was on the Remicade for 8 before I had to come off of it. Then I made it through 3 injections of humira before having problems. I just had to stop the cimzia after 3 injections. All three of these drugs caused neurological problems for me. My symptoms have included pain in my hands, feet, arms, and legs, muscle weakness, shakiness, dizziness, muscle spasms, with the humira and cimzia I have had a twitch with one of my eyes and a few episodes of blurry vision. Until I had a severe problem with the Remicade I was completely unaware of these side effects. I think I was having problems for the last year and a half that I was in it at least before my doctor and I made the connection and that was only after I had a severe neurological reaction about half an hour after the infusion. Please take these symptoms seriously and talk to your doctor if you haven't already. As some one who has been diagnosed for 12 years and has had a reaction to every medication I have been on I know how hard it is to potentially walk away from a drug that is hopefully going to make all the difference but these side effects often get worse with every injection. I am not 100% sure off the top of my head but I think humira can also induce psoriasis. I might have it confused with Remicade but it seems that most of the side effects are the same. I hope things gets better. Keep us posted.

Well i think you need ask to your doctor i been with cimzia couples months ago and cause me blourry vision and now im under humira and i feel not side effects at all

Alexa, I'm so glad the humira seems to be working out for you. I know a lot of people can handle one Tnf-alpha inhibitor but not necessarily another. I know after the Remicade started to fail for me the doctors felt it would be rare for me to react to another one since chemically the drugs are different. Apparently after 8 years on Remicade my body just can't tolerate that class of drugs anymore.
