Thankfully not for me, but rather for my husband.....spears he had a fairly rare reaction to a medication he has been on for the last month.....he started to get involuntary muscle movement on the left side of his body......resources, arm flailing....not fun to watch. IV benadryl has helped, now he needs to take it (pills) for the next day until the drug is out of his system.

It was generic lexapro....for anxiety...

Not the way I wanted to spend my afternoon/evening!!!!!

Is he on a high dose? Odd reaction to a commonly prescribed medication. Hope they get that junk out of his system fast. There are many alternatives.

He was on 10mg.....only about a month and even missed his dose this morning.....I did look up side effects and this was listed....ER called it tardive dyskinesia......so now he gets to go back on Prozac or something else similar.

He has been on Prozac before with no problems.....went off it for a while then the doc put him on lexapro because she said it would work faster......he was having anxiety attacks so needed to get that under control quickly......

Just tucked him in for the night, could see some of the muscle twitching starting but he took more Benadryl so hopefully that will kick in soon.

Thanks.....apparently this was a rare side effect......and I'm hoping the effects will totally go away...need to do more research...

I take a bi-polar drug that is actually made for schitaphenia, I know I spelled that wrong; lol anyway, it can cause permanant involuntary muscle movements. I have a slight reaction that way making me move my toes. Not invasive enough to stop the meds as they have worked great. The results are permanent anyway. Good luck I hope all goes well!
